The impression I get from the government is that they see Britain as a wounded animal that has sought refuge in a hollow to recover as it is otherwise, to quote an ancient comedy sketch, "just too weak to survive."

There is of course some truth to the notion that Britain hasn't been this weak since 1940, hit as it has been with the financial crash, 14 years of incompetent Tory government, Brexit, the pandemic, high borrowing and a fractured political consensus in which certain charalatans know that the voters are ripe for political exploitation.

Starmer is a wound licker. Badenoch would prescribe blood letting and Farage would prescribe a dose of rabies.
