Is anyone trying to calculate the effect of the new requirement for photo ID on the UK turnout?

Ironically, in 2020 Biden was the practical choice to head off the nomination of the unelectable far left Bernie Sanders.

The number one reason the Democratic Party did not choose an alternative to Biden in 2023 is that too many egos wanted to fill his shoes. You may have noticed that the debate stages for both parties have been filled with 12+ candidates.

Yes. In the UK, you are more used to open competition to become party leader. In my country, everyone pretends to get along, but some are insincere.

This is wholly incorrect. The stakes aren't a democrat loss... but the loss of democracy. Abandoning Biden will not impress American voters. Biden is not seeing out his last days serving the country he has given his life to out of vanity.. but out of patriotism in a uniquely grave situation. His cause is America .... and to thwart the end of her democracy...and he, an old man with 50 years of selfless service "vanity"!!??) and experience is uniquely positioned to lead this cause. He can't bow out. It is a gift to Trump and Satan for him to do so... so stop acting like these are normal times while recognising they aren't.

If Biden is now America, and its last hope, one can only say: God help America.

In fact, Biden and the Democrats are far more authoritarian than a mere bar room thug like Trump. Their kid gloved discretion when moving towards a liberal one-party state makes them all the more dangerous.

As for Satan: it is the Democrats who are the pro-choice party, tirelessly engaged in infanticide on a daily basis and on a huge scale.

Why do almost all liberals inhabit a fantasy world, where they are the good guys ?

It might have been too confusing but in the 4 part of GB, on another island though, the “natural party of govt” lost more than a third of its MP and a party that wants Northern Irland to be merged and never shows up in Parliament is the biggest party in NI

Not in Great Britain, a geographical expression referring to the largest of the Britannic islands.

Politically, we are the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

It is really quite remarkable that the US Liberal Left is constantly on broadcast mode to their ideological allies overseas and spend basically no time listening to them on strategy, messaging or organisation when every comparable country as seen their liberal left deliver universal healthcare, gun free streets, no capital punishment and reasonable welfare states, all things they have conspicuously failed to do since WW2

In fact the one time the Labour Party nearly killed itself was when they imported the US Style one man one vote primary system for members after Ed Miliband spent too much time watching The West Wing and forgetting what country he lived in, thus delivering an unelectable leader (Starmer needs to end that system btw, just for the fun of watching Owen Jones lose his mind if for no other reason)

A prime example of this is when British left wing feminists, people who don’t see their bodily autonomy under threat because they know how to actually win important battles, realised that Trans Rights and Women’s Rights inevitably clash. What did the US Left do? Did they take note and listen to their much more successful English cousins? Of course not, without even looking at the Scottish Legalisation that concerned Rowling and others so much, they launched into broadcast mode yet again, condemning them as TERFS and excommunicating them all for their heresy. Maybe one day American leftists won’t just look with envy at the welfare state their European cousins have managed to win, they will consider the compromises (Danish socialists being strict on immigration for example) that they accepted to win the really big prizes (a generous welfare state) and actually listen and learn rather than broadcasting and condemning

But I doubt it

American is a gerontocracy. One of the most depressing conversations of my like was with a 90 years old medicine professor and top gratin at Yale who told me his greatest achievement was a luxury home for retired profs with Alzheimer’s costing millions. Most of them had only just stopped teaching as I can confirm having had colleagues called Old Buck who as Young Buck stormed up Omaha Beach. They never, ever thought of the 30/40 something precarariat with wives, children and no tenure.

What not having Biden's back says to American voters..?

Voted for in the primaries .. except one.. in the Pacific.

I know.. let's go shopping says the chatterati!! That's democracy.. apparently!!

What guts! What admirable traits! The other side back their excuse for a "man".. for a candidate... to the hilt...but the centre left want perfection!

No candidate scores as well against Trump... and this from the usually debilitating position of incumbancy... aside from Mrs Obama.

It's Trump that wants Biden gone because Biden will beat him. And you want to help Trump?!

Biden was still a wonderful campaigner in the autumn 2022 Midterms.

Since then, something has broken in his physical constitution.

You’re being obtuse if you haven’t noticed how many Democratic Party voters are dismayed by Biden not stepping down. The only way for the marginal progressive faction to have any power is through the continued influence progressive advisors from the Obama administration have on Biden. So these fools would rather risk losing the election to Trump than lose their grip on the old centrist liberal. That’s progressives for you.

The Democrats must have some astute political thinkers in their ranks....so how on earth did the party allow itself to get here?

Because Biden can beat Trump.

Trump knows it..

There must be a date when the nomination for President cannot any longer be changed. Up until then the Democrats should be prepared for a change. If Biden is nominated at the Democrats Assembly it is likely to be Harris who could replace him on the ticket. They should then have a potential Vice President. Joe can collapse at any time and the pressures of the run up to the election in November may cause that collapse. They should be ready.

"The courts of law have proved this and that against Trump"

Well, no - since the Democrat pursuit of systematic lawfare against Trump is obviously politicically motivated and led by fervently Democrat lawyers.

Ergo, it is a perversion, and a ruination, of the US legal system. To which it has done far more damage than it ever will to Trump.

Like the January 6 rioters, many Democrats are prepared to burn down the USA rather than be defeated.

The UK tactical voting was very British - very quiet, very polite, very ruthless, very devastating.

This is so true, at times painfully so looking at the situation in the US and the potentially catastrophic consequences of a return of Trump to power. The sentence "Graveyards are full of indispensable men" sums up better than anything else I have read the current situation with Biden.
